I’ve grown to love these types of shawls. Lots of boring to set it up - so lovely mindless knitting - followed by an interesting edging pattern. The pattern looks fairly complex, but it’s pretty easy.

The edge has selvage stitches and what looks like a crocheted edge - it’s not, it’s just some slipping at the beginning of the row - so curling isn’t an issue even before you block it.

This shawl is first worked from bottom to top and then from side to side. It works by creating the base and then knitting along the edge of the base. You don’t cast off or pick up the base stitches - instead, you simply knit the base stitches together with the edge stitching as you knit it.
