Purse Pets: Puppy Dog
“Just Kidding Around” is a new collection of patterns designed with kids in mind-- fun accessories for the 6-12 yr. old set. This Purse Pet is one of 6 that will soon be available as an e-book, at a reduced price (over purchasing each pattern separately).
Made with simple crochet stitches, and then felted for a nice solid fabric, the Purse Pets each depict a fun animal. The purse flap forms the Pet’s face, while eyes, ears, noses, legs and other details make them fun and unique. All the Purse Pets are worked from the same Basic Purse pattern, included with each individual pattern. Both the Basic Purse Pattern and each of the animal variations contain photo details to aid in construction and the felting process, making this an ideal “first project” for those crocheters who have wanted to try their hand at felting. Please note successful felting depends upon use of a wool or mostly wool yarn, and crocheting at a loose tension. Acrylic fibers do not “grab” to create a solid fabric. If you choose to use acrylic, you’ll be much happier using a smaller hook and working at a tighter gauge.
The Puppy Dog Purse Pet, shown in shades of brown, is a “faithful companion” for that first day of school-- sized for a child who may need to carry a pack of tissues, lunch money, etc. during the school day. The finished size given is approximate, as felting will shrink the fabric by between 10 and 30% after crocheting, creating a solid fabric that will keep small objects from falling out, without the need for lining.
skill Level: Easy (basic stitches, simple shaping and color changes)
All “Just Kidding Around” patterns have been tech edited and test crocheted. The designers are available in Ravelry to answer questions: cerdeb and dunnica.
Please note: When the entire collection e-book becomes available, there will not be a discount for previous purchase of one or more of the patterns it contains. Individual patterns are offered solely as a convenience for those who don’t desire the entire collection. :-)
