Probably the easiest way to add a pop of colour to a simple knit - sew on some fun buttons!
These versatile mitts are perfect for gift giving. They’re a quick knit using a small amount of DK weight yarn. Personalise them to suit the recipient by mixing up the decorative buttons: choose neutral buttons for simple elegance or colourful buttons for added fun.
Delicate cables and twisted ribs make for an interesting knit, and you’ll be amazed how quickly you can whip these up.
Sizing
Women’s Small, (Medium, Large), designed to fit with 0 to 1cm negative ease.
Finished mitts are 19.5cm long and 15 (17, 19) cm unstretched circumference.
Yarn and materials
DK weight yarn: 40g (45g, 50g) / 100 (110, 125) yards
8 buttons, 9mm
Shown in Ginger’s Hand dyed Splendor DK (orange sample) and Sublime Extra Fine Merino DK (blue sample).
Techniques
These mitts are worked in the round and feature a simple cable pattern which can be worked either from a chart or written instructions, whichever you prefer. Decorative buttons are added at the end. The narrow cable can be worked with or without a cable needle, as preferred.
