The first signs of spring appear even while snow still hides the earth. Soft grey pussy willows pop out on branches, promising us that spring is not far behind. This cowl and slouchy hat mimic that grey down, pearly texture using a soft chunky yarn in moss stitch.
This pattern is an easy beginner’s pattern and will knit up very quickly. Just over one skein of Softee Chunky will get you a cowl and the remainder of the second skein will get you the hat.

Yarn:
2 skeins of Bernat Softee Chunky in True Grey or any Super Bulky weight yarn
Needles: 8mm circular needles and 8mm double-pointed needles
Gauge: 10st = 4” (10cm) in moss st
Measurements:
Cowl circ: 31” (79cm)
Cowl height: 12” (30.5cm)
Hat circ: 19” (48cm)
Hat height: 11” (28cm)
