Put Me in the Zoo Mittens
This is an entertaining mitten to knit with polka dots in as many colors as your stash can supply. The background yarn is caught behind the dots throughout, allowing for a simplified “stranded intarsia” effect. The mitten is begun and worked in the round, except for rounds with dots where you will be working intarsia in the round, which is working as if it were a flat fabric but with an invisible join for a seamless result.
Adaptable as a fair isle version.
Instructions for both child and adult sizes are given, adjustable according to gauge.
Kit available from Barrett Wool Co (pattern not included)
Large Adult mitten requires a full 140 yard skein of Mountain Mohair, with stash bits of 5 different colors, about 10 yards each.
