These mitts are an homage to the character Caleb Widogast from the online series Critical Role. Caleb is a brilliant wizard but a shabby dresser, and I designed these mitts to be simple, humble, and practical, with just a little embellishment to lend a touch of sophistication. Whether you’re inscribing teleportation circles, writing in your spellbook, or just petting cats, these mitts will keep your hands warm while leaving your fingers free to work.

The pattern includes directions for the mistake rib cuff, lateral braid decoration, and Icelandic bind-off. I recommend looking up video tutorials for the lateral braid and bind-off if you are a visual learner!

As written, the finished mitts are 3.5” across and will fit 7-8.5” hand circumference (roughly corresponding to a women’s medium).

For a larger size, use larger needles for a slightly looser gauge OR begin by casting on more stitches (32, 36, or any multiple of four) and following the pattern as written. Note that bigger sizes will require more yarn!
