Inspired by Uist Wool’s beautiful Beòthach (Beast) yarn the Quaich Jacket is an elemental embrace of wool and alpaca fibres.

Its style echoes quintessential kilt jackets in both cut and decoration. Ornate front panels and motif details on the back and sleeves carry the shape of a ‘quaich’ – a traditional, double-handled, Scottish friendship or loving cup.

This over-sized, edge-to-edge jacket is knitted flat, bottom-up and seamed together. The back and front are knitted separately and the sleeves setin. The neckband is created using an I-cord cast off. The length of the garment to the underarm, as well as the length of the sleeves can be adjusted, but note that any adjustments will affect the yarn quantities required.

Designed to be worn with 35–60 cm / 14–24 in positive ease. Due to the large amount of ease in this garment, when deciding between two sizes, the smaller size is recommended.

Uist Wool Beòthach chunky, 80% mixed wool breeds, 20% alpaca, 110 m / 120 yds per 100g skein.
