Quair Poncho
’Quair’ is an old Scottish word for ‘book’ and this poncho is all about the written word.
You are the author and you ‘write’ the poncho any way you like.
Garter ridge lines travel from the bottom of the poncho, ending at various points as if they are lines of poetry or prose. You decide where the lines end and how this part of the poncho looks, writing your own story in stitches.
All proceeds from this pattern will be donated to UKBLM (Black Lives Matter UK) - helping black lives matter in the UK and beyond.
Update 18/03/21 - As UKBLM are no longer accepting donations, further sales to this date have been donated to Black Mothers Matter
As this poncho is on the small side and covers the upper chest and shoulders without huge amounts of ease, I wanted to make sure it was as size inclusive as possible, while still creating a shape which fits and drapes well. Sizing begins at a 32” bust and goes up to a 60” bust, with around 6” of positive ease included in the size. See 3rd picture for size chart including yardage required for each size.
This size grading has taken into account width as well as length, so the finished poncho should be an adequate length when worn (as it is worked sideways). However, you can adjust the width easily by decreasing or adding stitches, if you would like it to end further up or down your torso. Please keep in mind that this will alter your yardage requirement.
