Quaker Parrot Blanket
Crochet Pattern for a Quaker Parrot Tapestry / Blanket. This pattern comes with both a graph and written directions.
All single stitch crochet using the tapestry crochet technique (carrying yarn)
You will need 7 skeins of White (A), 3 skeins of Brown (B), 3 skeins of Cream (C), 3 skeins of Dark Green (D), 3 skeins of Green (E), 1 skein of Blue (F) & 1 skein of Orange (G) to complete this pattern. This is assuming a medium weight yarn with a skein length of about 350 yards/skein.
I recommend carrying White (A), Brown (B), Cream (C), Dark Green, (D) and Green (E) through the entire pattern to keep it even. I would only carry the Blue (F) & Orange (G) in the tailspot and beak where it is used. You can carry the yarn and drop it when you’re finished with that section and then pick it up again without doing the entire row. This still means you’ll be carrying 5-6 colors at a time in the pattern so you can also do the drop and leave behind method for another color (like Brown or Dark Green) if you’d prefer to carry less colors at a time. There are videos on how to do some of this on youtube including one I created. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to reach out
I recommend a medium weight (worsted weight) yarn with a J sized hook. The tapestry should come out a little over 4 feet wide (when crocheted with a J hook and medium weight yarn) A border can increase the size and give the project a more finished look.
It is all single stitch crochet. In order to make this blanket you will need to know how to carry yarn (there are great Youtube videos that can teach you how to do the Tapestry Crochet Technique. I highly recommend trying a small simple pattern to practice carrying yarn before attempting a larger project. Carrying yarn gets more difficult as you add more colors.
150 stiches wide by 166 rows tall
