Quarrellous Cowl
‘An aran cable neckwarmer with a central staghorn cable and four-button fastening’

The cowl shows how only two cables can combine to create a richly patterned fabric.

MATERIALS
1 100g ball of King Cole Fashion Aran (pictured in ‘stone’) or other aran-weight yarn
A pair of 5mm knitting needles
A cable needle or an additional 4.5mm knitting needle
A tapestry needle
4 buttons

MEASUREMENTS
Length 27 inches
Width 5 inches

TENSION
24 stitches and 26 rows over 10cm square in cable pattern

TECHNIQUES
Casting on, Casting off, Stretchy rib cast on (photo-illustrated technique), cables, 1x1 rib, garter stitch, knit, purl and slipped stitches and button holes
