Queen Elizabeth, I was the last of the five Tudor Monarchs. She was the daughter of Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn. Her parent’s affair and eventual marriage led to the English Reformation.

Queen Elizabeth reigned for 45 years with a strong and trusted team by her side. She defeated the Spanish Armada, secured the Church of England, and defeated and executed her cousin Mary, Queen of Scots. She was married to her country and never took a husband. If she had married a foreign Prince, it would have given another country rights to England or worst yet in her eyes, the possibility to end up like her father.

These socks feature cables and ribbing. The design was loosely based on a portrait of Queen Elizabeth in a white dress with linked flowers and pearls throughout. The pattern looks great with solid, semi-tonal, speckled, and some variegated yarns.

Materials Needed

Yarn: 100 grams of fingering-weight sock yarn

Yarn Shown:

Shibui Knits Staccato: 70% Merino, 30% Silk 191 yards, 50gm/ball (Sadly I found out just before publishing that this yarn was discontinued)

Needles: Size US 1 (2.25mm) circular needle or size needed to obtain gauge. 32 inch is recommended but use the size that is the most comfortable for you.

Notions: Tapestry needle, stitch marker (optional), cable
needle.

Women’s Small: 7.5 inches - 13 inches

Women’s Medium: 8 inches - 14 inches

Women’s Large/Men’s Medium: 8.5 inches - 16 inches

Gauge: 8 stitches/inch using US 1 (2.25 mm) circular needle.
