Mythology Lace Club from Holiday Yarns, May 2012

This shawl combines my addiction for cables and lace in an almost square shawl. The center section begins with a provisional cast on and is worked flat. Stitches are then picked up around the center and the remainder of the shawl is worked in the round. In the third section, the corners become expanding triangles, turning the square shawl into an octagon.

The size of the shawl can be increased by changing the number of repeats of the third chart. The third section may be repeated as many times as desired before beginning the border. The chart was worked twice in the pictured shawl.

The pattern is both written and charted. The written directions are on pages 3-5 of the pattern. The charts are a separate PDF file.

Beads are attached with the crochet hook method before the stitch is worked.

A note on gauge It is not important that you get gauge. Use a needle size that will give you the fabric you like.

Circular needles are highly recommend as the bulk of the shawl is worked in the round. Additional items needed are stitchmarkers (minimum of 8), scrap or waste yarn for cast on, & a cable needle (if desired).

If beading, you will also need 20-25 grams of size 8 sead beads and something to attach them to the shawl (such as a crochet hook). Additional repeats of the third chart will increase the number of beads needed.
