My friend Rose wanted to be the queen for her birthday, so I designed her this headband to wear as her own tiara.
Her birthday happens to be not long after our traditional ‘‘Galette des Rois’’ when we put a charm in our pie and whoever gets it becomes king or queen for a day. We eat almond paste pies in the North of France and brioches in the South. As she is a southern girl, it was only natural to knit her headband in brioche stitch!
Knitted flat in brioche stitch, the headband starts with a provisional cast-on and the live stitches are grafted at the end, with a twist, to the provisonally casted on stitches. The brioche creates a warm and stretchy fabric that makes an elegant and cosy headband.
