Questionable Blends Blanket
The “Questionable Blends” blanket came about because I’m currently spinning vertical multi-coloured blends from World of Wool - most of which would blend together into muddy brown or grey colours if I didn’t employ a little colour management.
I decided to knit all of my yarn samples into a mitred square blankets so I will eventually have the mother-of-all colour samplers.
My yarns are all sport-weight but you can use any weight of yarn as long as they are all the same or very similar.
Use a needle size that will give you a neat, dense fabric without being too open or stiff.
This is a great stash busting project and a wonderful use of leftover yarns. It does look especially pretty in variegated yarns.
I’ll be knitting my mitred square blanket corner-to-corner, working through all of my yarn samples as I go.
The mitred squares are not in garter stitch so they are more of a kite-shape before they are joined. This gives the squares an interesting 3 dimensional quality.
I haven’t yet completed my blanket but I’ll probably add a garter stitch trim around the edge to finish it off.
I’m aiming for it to be big enough for a 1 person wrap-around blanket or a cosy 2 person lap blanket.
