I love gators because they are so easy to make, easy to wear and are incredibly warm. They also are nice because they are not big and bulky like a scarf, but provide the warmth of one. Because they are so quick and easy to make, they are good for beginner projects and make a great last minute (or not if you are a planner) gift for someone.

This project does not actually take two sizes of needles. The reason there are two sizes listed is because it depends on what size of worsted weight you are using. The yarn I used runs on the heavier side, so I used a size 7 to balance the larger yarn. When using either a true or lighter worsted, a size 8 would work better. The yardage can be changed too depending on how tall you want the gator.

This is also a great project to use up the beautiful handspun you might have sitting in your stash that you’re not sure what to do with.
