Quick Baby Pullover
This pattern is for a quick (literally finished this in two hours!) and easy pullover cardigan sweater. I wrote this pattern as a way to explain what a yoke is and hopefully give enough tips to be able to give you a jumping off point to make your own sweater patterns. When I was learning to make my own the yoke was the most complicated part for me! For that reason, the pattern is a long one, 17 pages!! And it includes a ton of details and pictures to help you along the way. There is also lots of room for customizing the look of this pullover.
Since it is designed for babies I made it with that in mind. I left an opening in the back to help get it onto them. I also didn’t put decreases in the arms so it’s easy to pul their little arms through.
I did use some discontinued yarn I had in my attic (Lion Brand Jiffy) but any 5 weight yarn should do. I held it up against A Star is Born: Nap Time Yarn (a 4 weight) and Hometown Yarn (a 6 weight) and it is exactly in the middle. So I think calling Jiffy a 5 weight is accurate so any 5 weight yarn should work with this pattern/gauge just fine. I do crochet really tight, so needing to adjust your hook size is to be expected.
My finished sweater measured as follows:
Chest: 16”
Length: 8”
Armhole: 3.5”
Thank you for your interest in my pattern and I hope you. like it!
