I designed and knitted these mittens for the first time on the train from London to Edinburgh, in a four hour knitting sprint. And I don’t really know what happened after that, I somehow ended up making four more pairs. It was just so fun, quick and most importantly, functional!

As I did them so many times, I realised I liked the ones I did with bulky yarn best, which results in a stiffer but really warm mitten, perfect for these cold winter days. But feel free to use a yarn that matches the needle size more closely, that works too.

These mittens are knitted in the round, have ribbing at the bottom, a thumb gusset and a grafted top end of the mitten. I’d say it’s an advanced beginner pattern, maybe ideal for people just learning to knit in the round, or as the name suggests, for people hungering for that quick fix that is needed from time to time.

Two 50 gram balls of any chunky (i.e. super bulky) yarn should be enough for this pattern.
