A quick to knit Christmas stocking in chunky weight yarn. Stocking uses 2 skeins of Lion Brand Hometown USA; snowman motif knitted in Patons Classic Wool (less than one skein needed--directions are for a stockinette stitch swatch which is then felted, snowman cut from felted fabric).

Size of the finished stocking can be changed by changing type of yarn and needle sizes.

The stocking itself should take an experienced knitter from 5-6 hours, with additional time for the knitted swatch, felting and drying for the motif (approx. 3 hours plus). If you don’t want to knit/felt for the snowman, a small amount of wool felt can be used instead OR purchase a knitted, crocheted or sewn ornament on which a name can be added.

A nice project if you only have a couple of days to make a baby shower gift, Christmas present, or birthday gift.
