QUILL
CONSTRUCTION:
QUILL is knit from the bottom up in one piece to the underarm where the front and back pieces are separated and knit to the shoulders. Once done, the shoulders are joined with 3 needle bind-off. The sleeves and collar are all picked up and knit and shaped with short rows. The pocket bag and opening are completed last.
SKILL:
Intermediate - increases, decreases, simple cables, short rows, slipped stitches, 3 needle bind off, putting stitches on hold and working later

EASE:
Recommended ease is 2-6” / 5-15 cm at chest, 0-2” / 0-5 cm at bicep but keep in mind ease is a personal preference so more or less is fine
- Natural colour sample is size L (42.5”/108 cm chest) shown on a chest that measures 40.25”/102,5 cm. Bicep has zero ease.
- Teal colour sample is size 2X (50.5”/128.5 cm chest) shown on a chest that measures 47.5”/121 cm. Bicep has 2”/5 cm of positive ease.
YARN:
QUILL is made with worsted weight yarn. Samples use Cascade Yarns, 220 in Opal (natural colour sample) and Cascade Yarns, 220 Superwash in Pacific (teal colour sample)

GAUGE:
20 sts x 28 rows = 4” / 10 cm in stocking stitch with larger needles, blocked
20 sts = 4” / 10 cm in garter stitch with smaller needles, blocked (row gauge is not critical)
NEEDLES:
US #7 / 4.5 mm and US #5 / 3.75 mm or size needed to obtain gauge
ADDITIONAL TOOLS:
4 stitch markers, cable needle, short lengths of scrap yarn in contrasting colour
