This is a fairisle hat on a stash busting, quilting theme.

Materials
I used one colour for the background (a whole 25g ball) and lots of scraps for all the colours, taking between 0.25 gm and 3 gm per colour.

Size
Made to fit a standard adult size head, approx 22” round & 8.5” long.

Once upon a time I was a quilter and would spend many hours cutting up perfectly good fabric, then stitching it together again! I made a comment recently, that a star on one of my other hat designs, was also an old quilt block. That turned out to be a light-bulb moment and before I knew it, Quilters Delight had designed itself!!
Some of my favourite quilting patterns were flying geese, pinwheels and stars, all of which feature on the hat.

You can use all your little scraps - do you only have enough of a colour for one or two rows? Or enough for 8 or 9 rows? The most I used for any contrast colour was 3 grams and the smallest, just 0.25 grams!

I found a colour wheel to be a really handy tool for putting those scraps together - you can easily find one to download online. Go for contrasting colours to make them really pop - not only contrasting with the background colour but also between the bands.

The main motif features eight stars different centres, which is actually very easy to work following my simple method. The other bands feature small patterns which work up quickly.

With the constantly changing pattern and colours you won’t want to put it down and you’ll be finished before you know it!

When you’re done, please come back and create a Ravelry project for your hat and link it to the pattern so I can see and enjoy it too!!

Happy knitting!!
