Initially published in 2018 as a project for the Biscotte Mystery Sock Club, I’m happy to share this renewed version of the Quilter’s Socks! Use any self-striping or gradient yarn for a fun and unique result!

MATERIAL NEEDED

  • BISCOTTE YARNS - BIS-SOCK 85% merino wool sw, 15% nylon; 400 m per 100 g - 1 SKEIN (in self-stripping colorway) - shown in Lily Pad
  • DPN or circular needles (with cable lenght of 80cm (32’’) for magic loop) of 2.5 mm (US 1.5) - or size required to obtain the gauge.
  • Tapestry needle
  • Stitch holder or waste yarn

SIZE - ADULT : One size - Foot length is adjustable.

GAUGE : 32 stitches = 10 cm; 4” in stockinette stitch.

NOTE

These socks are created using two squares worked in the round from the center outward. One side of each square is knitted in back-and-forth rows to form a side panel, which is then closed by grafting to create a tube. These tubes are referred to as PIECE 1 (for the leg) and PIECE 2 (for the foot). Both pieces are grafted together in front of the leg to form the body of the sock. An afterthought heel is added next, and you complete the project by knitting the toes and the ribbing.
