Designed for Marianated Yarns’ Knitmas 2018 Kits, the Quincy Poncho features an eye-catching cable and subtle color shift in three gradient shades of Scrumptious HT. The knitting begins with a ribbed cowl neckline, then increases along either side of the cable to create an asymmetric shape — the result is lightweight warmth with an elegant silhouette and drape.

The poncho was designed for a 1,200-yd (1,097-m) yarn kit from Marianated Yarns, but the pattern recipe can easily be adapted to more or less yardage. Finished look and coverage will vary slightly, based on dimensions of individual wearer.

ETA: I am planning to add two larger sizes to the poncho in the near future. If you already have the pattern and are interested in the larger sizes, please let me know and I can advise you on how to get started now.

This pattern contains both fully charted and written instructions.

Recommended Yarn:
Marianated Yarns Scrumptious HT — 80% superwash merino / 10% cashmere / 10% nylon — 400 yds (366 m) to 100 g. Shown in colorways:

Drizzly Day (Color 1), two full skeins—800 yds (732 m)
Steady Rain (Color 2), half skein—200 yds (183 m)
Torrential Downpour (Color 3), half skein—200 yds (183 m)

Total yardage in sample is approx. 1,200 yds (1,097 m). Pattern is written for two sizes — Size A (Size B). For sizes larger than this, I recommend working with at least four skeins of yarn - 1,600 yds (1463 m) or more.

Sizing:
(Size A sample): 6” (15 cm) neck length, 19” (48 cm) around neck, 30” (76 cm) from base of neck to bottom hem, 60” (152 cm) around bottom hem, 30” (76 cm) down center back (see schematic on pg. 6). Size B will be 20.5” (52 cm) around neck, and other dimensions will vary based on chosen stopping point in pattern.

Gauge:
26 sts and 36 rows to 4” (10 cm) in stockinette st, blocked.

PLEASE NOTE: Changes in gauge will affect finished size, look of patterning, and amount of yarn used. To meet dimensions and to ensure enough yarn, be certain to use needle size that gives gauge.*

Needles:
US 4 (3.5 mm) circular needles, 16” (40 cm) and 32” (80 cm) lengths, plus US 5 (3.75 mm) needle for bind-off only.

Other Materials:
Three stitch markers, cable needle, tapestry needle.
