DESCRIPTION
Quintessential Scrunchie is a beginner friendly scrunchie perfect for tying back your hair, securing a braid, or wearing as a bracelet. It was designed to use up any fingering weight yarn scraps you have on hand, and will look great whether you choose to use solid or speckled yarn.
THIS IS A GREAT PATTERN FOR YOU IF:
- You enjoy mindless knitting and are looking for a pattern to relax with.
- You have a ton of scrap of yarn or a mini skein that you want to put to good use.
- You want to experiment with fading colors to make a fun hair accessory that is as unique as you.
SKILLS NEEDED
This pattern is suitable for an adventurous beginner knitter. It is important that you know how to do a knit stitch and also how to knit in the round. Tutorials are included on page 04 for more advanced techniques and transitions.
YARN
Quintessential Scrunchie was designed using 20 g/92 yds of fingering weight yarn. You will use 16 g/74 yds for the fabric tube, and 4 g/18 yds for the bind-off. You can use scraps that you have on hand for a multi-colored scrunchie, or a mini skein will also work great for a solid colored scrunchie.
NEEDLES
(2) Sets of Size 2 (2.75 mm) DPNs, or preferred needles for small circumference knitting.
NOTIONS
- Crochet hook & scrap yarn for provisional cast-on.
- (1) Stitch marker to indicate beginning of round.
- (1) Scunci No Damage Hair Elastic, or other hair tie or elastic.
- Darning needle for weaving in ends.
FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Circumference: 15.5”/39 cm Height: 2-2.5”/5-6.5 cm
