This top down wrap, inspired by a small costume piece worn by Sean Maguire in his portrayal as Robin Hood on the ABC television show Once Upon a Time, is very versatile. It begins with raglan-style shaping, while the front and back are created seamless using short rows, increases, and selvedge edging, all worked entirely in stockinette. An I-cord border finishes off the project. Wear it as a shawl, a poncho, a scarf… Different possibilities are available!

PATTERN NOTES: Unless you use an interchangeable needle set, some magic loop techniques will be used. Since the pattern is all in stockinette, the project will curl naturally during the knitting process. Just have patience, especially when working sections 2, 3 and 4. Blocking is very necessary. Using a steam iron on a low setting was also very helpful for me, but this also depends on the material you choose. I used interchangeable needles and stitch stoppers when holding stitches between sections, but you can also use scrap yarn. Also, the I-cord border will cause the final section to curl because of its tightness (see images). I actually liked the end result, but if you want a more straight edge, try using a more loose tension, or even larger needles for the finishing. I can’t guarantee it won’t curl over though.

MATERIALS:
Color A: Malabrigo Rios in Primavera (I used 1 1/2 skeins, so about 300-320 yards).
Color B: Malabrigo Rios in Lettuce (about 80-100 yards).
US size 6 16”, 24”, and 40” circular needles. (If you prefer using the magic loop technique, you may use only the 40” needles.)
Crochet hook and scrap yarn for provisional cast on.
4 stitch markers.
Spare US size 6 needle for bind off (for more loose bind off, larger size can be used).
Tapestry needle.
