Rabbit Basket
Something about Easter always sees me reach for a crochet hook and create something rabbit themed. This versatile basket combines my love of crochet and cross stitch. The fresh and vibrant colours of the baker’s twine make for a contemporary basket perfect for use as a plant pot holder, holding your yarn or simply stashing your Easter chocolate.
The entire design is worked in spirals using double crochet and two colours of yarn. It should be fairly straightforward for anyone with some basic crochet experience. English crochet terms are used for the pattern.
The example shown has been worked in two shades, sage and white, of Everlasto Baker’s twine. This is a very stiff twine which gives a robust basket capable of standing up without support. Tension is not critical so you can easily substitute an alternative yarn, it will simply make for a different sized basket that may be less rigid.
The baker’s twine used is approximately 4ply, but the use of two stands for tapestry crochet and the nature of the twine calls for a 4mm hook, slightly larger than normally recommended for this weight of yarn.
