Overlooking a little suburb of Bonn, Germany the Rabenlay is a rockface composed of basalt created during the volcanic active period in the Siebengebirge during the geological period of the tertiary.

The combination of personal, historic and geological significance of this place inspired the design of this crescent shawl that features garter stitch panels, slanting lace sections and a border pattern inspired by the regular patterns of the basalt.

The shawl would be perfect to wear on breezy spring or early sommer evenings. The design works great with gradient yarns as well as semisolid and solid shades but also works great as a two colored version. It can be knit either in fingering weight yarn or lace weight yarn.
