This decorative scarf can also be worn as a headscarf, fastened behind the head with a half-knot, shawl pin, or spare DPN.

This pattern also requires 1,000 seed beeds, size 6/0 (Red clear matte beads used), and a crochet hook small enough to fit through them.

This is the first pattern for Lent in the Liturgical Year Series.

From the pattern description: “The story of Rachel in Genesis is one of two children lost and gained. This decorative scarf and headscarf is made from the softest sock yarn, but patterned after the thorns that sat on Jesus’ brow, the red beads like his blood. From that strip of thorns grows a band of leaves, for the new life that comes through suffering.
