Radiant Radish
This pattern is for a cute little life-size radish. The project knits up quickly and is appropriate for beginners. The instructions are for knitting flat, but they can be easily adapted for working in the round. You can opt for a radish bearing elongated stems with leaves, or a super-quick version with abbreviated stems. The finished object measures roughly 5” (full stem) and 2.5” (chopped stem) when working with heavier worsted yarn and US 6 (4.00mm) needles.
NOTIONS:
Pair US 6 / 4.00 mm knitting needles
(DPN’s or circulars if working I-cord)
Embroidery needle
Small crochet hook (optional)
MATERIALS:
2 g Fuchsia (Pink) Yarn (Heavy Worsted or Aran Wt.)
1-2 g Green Yarn (Worsted or Sport Wt.)
Small amount White Yarn (Worsted Wt.)
Poly-fill
GAUGE:
Different size needles and yarn can be substituted. Gauge is not important for this project so long as the yarn used is more bulky than recommended for the chosen needles. Consider using shredded yarn in a matching reddish or pink color instead of fiberfill if the fabric knits up to be too loose.
SKILLS:
Basic knitting technique, including stockinette stitch and simple increases/decreases, I-cord (optional), seaming. Simple crochet chain using a threaded needle or your hands if you don’t have a small crochet hook available.
