Radiocarbon Socks
As I just got back the results of some radiocarbon dates for my research, here is a pattern to celebrate that! And also because the dark brown with bright green reminded me of charcoal and radioactive things… The pattern is specifically written for the gradient kits of Hey Mama Wolf, in this case combined with a dark brown Tuku Wool sock yarn. The socks are mid-calf length, my preferred height of socks to wear under dresses and skirts! The leg tapers slightly to leave extra room for the calf. Two sizes are included and instructions for both magic loop as other methods, and the pattern is available in both dutch and english.
Size and finished measurements
Two sizes are given, S/M (M/L). The difference between the sizes is the circumference of the leg and foot, but both the circumference as the length of the leg and foot are easily customizable. The yarn tends to grow during wear, so if you want a tighter fit choose a circumference size down.
* Max leg circumference: 23-25cm
(25-27cm). Can be easily adjusted by
casting on more stitches, preferably a
multiple of 3.
* Foot circumference: 20-22cm
(22-24cm).
Gauge
10x10cm on 2.75mm needles
- After blocking and wear: 22st x 40r.
- Before blocking: 30st x 40r.
Materials
* CC color: One set of Hey Mama Wolf
gradient skeins. I used the colorway
Hollyhock with the lightest green as CC1
and the lightest blue as CC5, but feel
free to do whatever order you like!
* MC: Two skeins of Tuku Wool sock. I
used the colorway Osanga (undyed
yarn).
- Needles: 2.75mm or size needed to obtain gauge. 4 double pointed needles or one circular needle for magic loop method of at least 80cm in length.
