Ragtime Top
YARN, GAUGE, SIZE AND MACHINE Tamm Diamante yarn plus a skinny strand of variegated yarn run along with the main yarn get a gauge of 7 stitches/10 rows/inch on standard gauge machines. A ribber is required. Thread the two yarns through the mast and tension mechanism as though they were a single yarn. It works fine. The addition of the run-along strand makes Diamante knit to a larger gauge than it does on its own which allows us to make larger sizes. My run-along is a thin industrial yarn remnant cone. If you cannot find a suitable yarn in the “yarn” department of your shopping resources, try serger thread. There are lots of nice ones and it is similar in weight to the one I used.
