When I commuted to Manhattan from Long Island, on the trip home, I had the option of catching my train in the LIRR Rail Yards instead of changing trains in Jamaica, Queens.
On nice evenings I would walk a few blocks to catch the #7 from Midtown to Queens. The first stop brought me within a block of my train. It was lovely to enter the train and find my seat without the crush of Penn Station. This asymmetrical shawl reminds me of those evenings meandering across the parallel rails and switches before stepping onto the LIRR Diesel train.

This pattern is more of a recipe. You can add or subtract yardage. Use multiple yarns or a single color. Create your own unique color palate.

This pattern is adaptable for any weight yarn. You will want to change the needle size when using fingering, worsted or bulky weights. Your yarn yardage can also vary when changing yarn weight. This is a great project to use up left over balls. Knit away and add the next leftover ball when it runs out.

Special Techniques:
Knit & purl
Cast on & bind off
