This cowl has FOUR different options for completion. You can choose between a long and short cowl, based on your preference or your yarn stash (or both!) You can also choose whether to work the edging in garter stitch or simple lace, instructions are included for both edgings!
Because I used nearly the entire skein (or two skeins if you choose the long version) of a 115g skein, I’ve included a full list of tips, instructions, and a handy table to help you get the most out of your yarn so that you can use up those more typical 100g skeins in your stash too!
As always, these patterns are written and edited with the beginner knitter in mind! Just follow the easy to understand directions and you’ll end up with something beautiful! Easy to read charts accompany the written directions, but can be used independently, whichever style you prefer. There is no cabling, very simple lacework, and the majority of the pattern is using the knit stitch (very little purling!)
Tools Needed:
Needles Size US 6 / 4.0 mm (circular needles, 16-24” for shorter cowl, 32-40” for long cowl) or the appropriate needles to meet gauge. Remember to swatch in the round!
10-21 stitch markers
1-2 skein(s) of DK weight yarn.
Yarn Needle & Scissors
This pattern is the third one of the collection honoring friendship, starting with Canterlot and followed up by Nymphalis. Rainboom represents the idea that healthy friendships, no matter how unimportant they may seem, are special and create a lasting effect on not only those in the friendship, but the people and neighborhoods around them.
This pattern is dedicated to my friends, many of whom I’ve met through the knitting community, without your support, this pattern would not exist!
This pattern has been tech edited and test knit.
Errata: Original Published Version had the written directions for the top edging repeat Rows 2 & 3. The corrected version now has the top edging repeat Rows 3 & 4. The charts provided were correct and haven’t been changed.
