Two thumbs up! The use of self-striping rainbow yarn provides a touch of whimsy to a very practical set of accessories. The bonnet will stay on the head of the squirmiest of babies while the mittens will not stray far from each other, thanks to the cord that connects them.
The front of the bonnet is knit back and forth in rows while the crown is knit in the round. An attached I-cord edging is worked between two I-cord ties along the bonnet’s opening.
The mittens are worked in the round from the cuff to the tip. For the two largest sizes, a thumb is worked in the round (other sizes are worked without a thumb). An I-cord connects the two mittens together.
