I hope you love this Rainbow Fanny Pack as much as I do! The pouch is worked in the round using a worsted/aran weight cotton in 6 different colors. The pattern describes how to make the rainbow stripes, but you can customize the colors however you’d like. The special stitch used for the pouch keeps holes to a minimum so a fabric lining isn’t required.

The trim, flap, and strap are worked in Bernat Maker Home Dec. I recommend using Bernat Maker because it provides a good amount of stretch, but you can substitute other types of yarn. For example, you can double strand a worsted weight yarn to get a bulkier feel, but the pattern works single stranded as well.

The strap is made to fit and is attached to both sides of the pouch. However, I’ve included instructions for a button attachment so it can be more adjustable.

The pouch is about 12 inches across at the widest point (bottom) and the opening is about 6 inches wide.

Rainbow Fanny Supplies:

• Hooks: 4.0 mm & 5.5 mm
• Worsted weight cotton in 6 colors: red (30 yds), orange (24), yellow (20 yds), green (14 yds), blue (10 yds), purple (5 yds)
• 1 skein of Bernat Maker Home DEC, in a solid color, yardage varies due to sizing
• Button closure (Optional): button with a large center hole that the yarn can run through several times or a regular button that is about 0.5-1 inch in diameter.
• Buttons for strap (optional): 2 - 0.75 in. diameter buttons (pattern is designed so that the strap is attached permanently to the pouch on both ends but it also has an option to connect the strap with buttons)
• Blunt-tipped needle - used to weave in the ends
