The gauge only pertains to the base of the carrier that is in Double crochet.

This is worked in contentious rounds to make it so there isn’t a seam. A stitch marker will be important.

All sizing is for the strap only, and is based off average/ generic sizes. How to measure for proper size is mentioned in the pattern.
