This simple but effective variation on feather and fan or ripple stitch produces a soft and squishy pram-sized blanket without holes for a new baby.

A larger blanket could easily be made by increasing the cast on stitches by lots of 18 and increasing pattern repeats.

For a rainbow blanket choose the traditional 7 rainbow colours - red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet. Or choose your own colour combination. Use up your stash of odds and ends in your favourite colours. Each colour section of the pattern as published uses about 32 m of yarn.
