These simple mitts are designed with a wide opening in the palm to allow one’s fingers to escape their confines to use your phone, scratch your nose, and more. The afterthought thumb is optional.

The pattern is customizable for your unique hand width and length.

They are knit bottom-up, in the round, except for the place around the thumb that is knit back and forth.

While the pattern is written for a women’s medium (60 stitches), the pattern is easily changed by increasing or decreasing by an increment of four stitches. Just remember to write it down so you don’t forget before starting mitten #2!

Many thanks to Patsfan1 and Knittywittyshelle for their excellent test knitting!
