Rainbow Sky Mandala
Little V’s Rainbow Sky Mandala is my first crochet mandala pattern. It makes a stunning doily type table decoration, a wall hanging, or if you use chunky yarn and a big hook it can become a rug or blanket! Please note that this listing is for the PDF crochet pattern and tutorial, not a finished item. I may occasionally have rug versions available in my shop.
The mandala represents the sun, white fluffy clouds, rain, a rainbow and storm clouds. It uses a variety of crochet techniques with clear instructions and photographs given for the more unusual stitches. It probably isn’t suitable for your very first crochet pattern, but I would say that an ambitious beginner could manage it and I’m available to help if anything is unclear.
I made the original version of this mandala in 4ply mercerised cotton with a 3.5mm hook and I have included my colour pallette in the tutorial. Do not feel limited by this though, the pattern can be made with any yarn and appropriate sized hook. You will see a rug sized version in the photos made with a 10mm hook as well as a massive version with multiple strands and a 20mm hook!
