The Rainbow Sweater is a children’s sweater. It is worked flat from a provisional cast on at armhole height on the body up to the neckline opening. Shoulders are worked separately, shaped with short rows, and then joined for the back, after shaping the neckline. The back is worked flat until the armhole, then joined with the front and worked in the round to the ribbing. Sleeve stitches are picked up at the armholes and shaped with short rows, yielding a modified dropped shoulder, then worked in the round to the cuff. A neckband is picked up around the neckline to finish the sweater.

The Rainbow Sweater was designed with Roll Up the Sheep Antónia yarn. Roll Up the Sheep is a brand and LYS from Portugal that specializes in creating yarns made with local fibre and dyed with natural colorants. Dyed yarn is sold in small balls (around 15 g – 20 g or 0.5 – 0.7 oz); undyed yarn is sold in bulk to avoid waste.

This is a design that is easy to customize with different color combinations, and a perfect project to use up leftover yarn.

A Camisola Arco-íris é uma camisola infantil, trabalhada em tricot plano a partir da montagem provisória das malhas, situada à altura da cava, na parte da frente do tronco. Daí continua até à abertura do decote. Os ombros são trabalhados um de cada vez, com carreiras encurtadas, e depois voltam a juntar-se para construir as costas. As costas são também trabalhadas em tricot plano, do ombro até à cava, altura em que juntamos as partes da frente e de trás e tricotamos em circular até ao canelado da cintura. As malhas para as mangas são levantadas nas cavas e trabalhadas com carreiras encurtadas, para um melhor encaixe, e depois trabalhadas em circular até ao punho. Para terminar a camisola, levantam-se malhas para fazer o canelado do decote.

A Camisola Arco-íris foi concebida com o fio Antónia da Roll Up the Sheep, uma marca e loja de lãs portuguesa especializada em fios feitos com lã local e tingidos com corantes naturais. O fio tingido é vendido em pequenos novelos (cerca de 15 g – 20 g ou 0.5 – 0.7 oz); o fio não tingido é vendido a granel, para evitar o desperdício.
