Podcast #5 is now up!
I called this “Rainbow Warrior” because my LGBTQ friends and colleagues have been on my mind since the tragedy in Orlando. Despite being wonderful people they often live in fear, even before this tragedy. Symbols of kindness are badly needed in all of our communities right now. This shawl is a quiet reminder that hate doesn’t have to win, and that tolerance is grace. When you wear it I hope you remember to be gentle on yourself as well as your fellow humans or gift it to someone who could use a little extra love.
Rainbow Warrior is a very vibrant shawl that perhaps is even prettier on its wrong side than its right side (wrong side is in final photo.) making it completely reversible. It is constructed from the top down and only one yarn is used at a time. You also carry your yarn up the side (all of you weaving-in complainers, I’m talking to you!) and the end has elegant picot triangles. Slipped stitches and garter stripes form most of the shawl.
Final measurements: 86” long X 14” deep after blocking.
Made of the most soft and beautiful MCN fingering/sock yarn, Miss Babs Caroline. Shown in Oxidized Silver (Slate, Quicksilver and Pewter also look great.) and Perfectly Wreckless, one skein of each. If you have color questions, you can address them in the Casapinka Group.
Other combinations that the Miss Babs folks have suggested are below. They also invite you to contact them if you have any questions about how two skeins will look together. They are always happy to help!
