Rainbow Wings
It’s the launch pattern for the Minilicious Pattern club and I’m so excited to finally be able to share with you this design I’ve been keeping hidden for so long … this is the Rainbow Wings shawl and I absolutely love how this idea turned out!
The shawl is fun and simple to knit … the colourful wedges knit out of mini skeins makes it a really potato chip kind of project where you just want to knit one more wedge!
The pattern is a great piece to add colour and fun to your outfit and is perfect for providing a light layer of warmth in the spring/summer months and can also be worn wrapped round the neck a few times making it a great accessory to tuck into a coat during the cooler months!
The pattern combines soothing garter stitch and engaging short rows and encourages colour play through the use of several mini skeins (you can also use scraps or leftovers) along with a full skein in your main colour!
PLEASE NOTE - THIS PATTERN IS EXCLUSIVE TO THE MINILICIOUS PATTERN CLUB. THIS AND THE REST OF THE CLUB PATTERNS WILL BE RELEASED FOR INDIVIDUAL SALE TOWARDS THE END OF SEPTEMBER 2019.

What you will need:
- Yarn – 220gm Fingering Weight Yarn - Yarn used in sample is Hue Loco Yarns – All using the Modern Sock Base (80/20 Superwash Merino/ Nylon), 1 full skein in The New Yorker Colourway (400yd/366m per 100gm) and 1 Color Riot Mini Skein set (12 skeins 10gm and 40yd/36.5m each)
Additionally, this pattern will work perfectly well if you only have 10 mini skeins rather than the 12 used in the sample, the final shawl will be a few inches shorter in length overall. (I am aware mini sets are typically sold with 5 or 10 mini skeins so if you are purchasing minis for this shawl a 12 skein set may not be as easy to find)
-
Needles – 3.75mm (US 5) needles on a Long Cable to accommodate all the stitches.
-
Notions – 3 Stitch Markers. I would also suggest a progress keeper for the first section to help keep track of the right side of your work. (Optional – Scales to weigh your yarn as you go – if you don’t have them it’s not 100% necessary)
-
Gauge – Approx 22 sts / 4 inches in garter stitch after gentle blocking (although gauge is really not too important with this shawl as long as you are liking the fabric you are getting).
Finished Size of Shawl – 254cm (100 inches) on the longest edge & 46cm (18 inches) at the deepest point.
