17 sts and 32 rows = 4”/10 cm in Garter Stitch center after blocking; 15 ½ sts and 27 ¾ rows = 4” /10 cm in lace patt after blocking, 15 ¼ rows = 4” /10 cm over top garter border after blocking.
Worsted Weight Gauge
14 ½ sts and 30 rows = 4”/10 cm in in Garter Stitch after blocking; 13 sts and 22 rows = 4”/10 cm in lace patt after blocking, 12 ¾ rows= 4”/10 cm over top garter border after blocking.

PATTERN NOTES
This shawl is worked from the top down beginning with a garter tab.

6 sts are increased every RS row of the main body creating a curved crescent shape.

The beginning Garter Stitch Section is adjustable by working more or fewer rows in 6 row (18 st inc) increments.

Adjusting this section will change the amount of yarn required.

Feel free to work any number of full repeats of Lace Pattern 1 and 2, but understand that changing the number of repeats will change the amount of yarn required.

Lace Pattern 3 must be worked as written to line up with the border pattern.

Rows 5-8 of border pattern are repeatable for as much of a border as desired.

On the WS, each loop of double and triple yarnovers are worked as a single stitch, alternating knits and purls, creating extra-large yarnovers.

During Lace Patterning work all sl sts loosely purlwise (tip to tip) with yarn in front unless they appear within a special stitch such as s2kp, then see Stitch Guide.
