Knit cuff down in Magic Loop method with heel flap and gusset, this pattern features a beautiful fern lace detail worked down the front of the leg of each sock. Easily adaptable for knitting with DPNS. The cuff is work in a pretty Cable Rib. I have created a new heel stitch pattern for these socks, what I call a Slip Stitch Ridge Heel. Wedge Toe instructions are given in this pattern, but feel free to use your favorite toe (or heel) constructions. With a combination of simple and step-up stitches, this pattern is ideal for adventurous beginner sock knitters, but also enjoyable for knitters with experience who enjoy lace knitting. I have knit the model socks in a deliciously soft alpaca-wool blend, but use your favorite 4 ply/fingering weight sock yarn. A solid or tonal/semi-solid color yarn looks very attractive for this design, but also well suited for the special gently speckled yarns. Several sizes to choose from!
