Rainey.. the dapper and handsome beau of Rainbow the Ragdoll.
He has come to meet his new girlfriend bearing gifts: a kite that he has every intention of showing her how to fly, and a slingshot that he is so proud of. Having made it himself from the neighbourhood bushes, Rainey is a good shot and hopes that Rainbow will be impressed with his good eye.
Rainey is knit in the same manner as Rainbow. One begins knitting his sneakers and continues on to his knee high socks, then a piece of bare leg, then his boxer shorts hidden under his blue jeans. When you get to the waistline you begin to work his brightly striped pullover, adding the hands and arms at the raglan sleeves. Then onward to his shoulders, neck and head… all in one piece. No stitching pieces together! His blue jeans are worked separately and not attached to his body, save for the brightly colored suspenders that hold them on his body.
Full instructions are given for the creation of his full head of hair and line to line stitch counts AND row counts are given in case you want to change the color scheme and create one of your own.
I knit Rainey with Schachenmayr Baby Smiles yarn in a miriad of colors but one could easily use the bits or yarn that are in your yarn bowl and create your own color scheme. I used Bulky yarn for the hair and do recommend that either worsted or bulky be used to give the hair a thicker look. Instructions are given for the creation of the hairdo as well.
