Mt Rainier is the tallest peak in Washington state, and the landscape surrounding it is so spectacular, naturally it had to be on this year’s national park hat list. When I was looking for inspiration for this color and hat, I was really drawn to the meadows called “Paradise” within the park. The green meadows speckled with wildflowers, particularly lupines, caught my eye and I could not get the images out of my head (I hope to make a visit sometime soon!). I knew that had to be my inspiration.
After dying the color on my absolute favorite yarn base - Rocky Mountain Merino Worsted,, I decided to keep the design fairly simple in order to show off the color. I love how this turned out. The pom pom is optional, but I felt I have been remiss in adding pom poms to this year’s National Park Hats so it was time for one. I hope you enjoy this simple and cozy knit, I know I did!
Written for two sizes (Largest size is shown), you can easily make this hat for anyone in the family! Happy knitting!
