Rainy Days Sweater
The Rainy Days Sweater is an adorable unisex addition to any baby’s wardrobe. The pattern is intermediate level and comes with a video tutorial for the colour work. It is crocheted as separate pieces and sewn together.
Sizes:
0-3 months - chest 52cm/20.5 inches
3-6 months - chest 56cm/22 inches
6-12 months - chest 60cm/23.5 inches
12-18 months - chest 64cm/25 inches
18-24 months - chest 68cm/26.75 inches
Materials:
- 5mm crochet hook (or that required to meet gauge)
- Two stitch markers or scrap yarn
- Two 12mm buttons
- Scissors
- Yarn needle
- Yarn: See photos for a table of approximate yarn quantities.
I used Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino (250m/274y per 100g/3.5oz), which is a sport weight yarn. However, the metres per 100g is similar to many DK and even worsted weight yarns. If you want to use an alternative yarn, I suggest you choose one that has a similar length per 100g, and most importantly, ensure that you meet the gauge before starting. The sample in the photos was made in the colours Baby Blue, White, Kingfisher, Lipstick Pink and Acid Yellow.
Stitches (US terms):
Ch = chain
DC = double crochet
SC = single crochet
Sl st = slip stitch
Gauge:
15 stitches x 15 rows per 10cm x 10cm (4 in x 4 in) square in griddle stitch.
The pattern includes 7 photos and a link to a video tutorial for the colour work. All sizes have been tested and you are welcome to send me questions if you get stuck at any point :)
Happy crocheting!
Nina
