I wrote the pattern for a multi-colour version of this scarf and have edited it for clarity. This is the edited version, with tassels added. :) I used yarn in two colours. You can opt for more colours.

The scarf is crocheted in one piece. After Row 2, the pattern repetition is established starting at Row 3. The pattern repetition consists of alternating rows of 2 sc increase and 1 sc decrease, resulting to an increase of 1 sc in each Row. Decorate the scarf with tassels at the three points if desired. Happy crocheting!

Tip:

The scarf has a tendency to curl at the sides. This happens particularly with lofty and lightweight yarns. I notice the following helps lessen the curling:

  1. Blocking.
  2. Using heavier weight yarn. Cotton is usually heavier than wool, for example.
  3. Making the scarf larger, the weight smooths out the drape of the scarf.
  4. Using tassels on all points of the scarf, this adds weight to the scarf and minimizes curling.
  5. Adding a simple scallop trim all around the scarf.
