From the beautiful old stitch pattern called Bellflower right down to the interesting plant Campanula rapunculus, which the brothers Grimm used as inspiration for Rapunzel’s name, this shawl loves plants that bloom, don’t you?

Knitting begins with a provisional cast on of just six little stitches. The lace grows from this point to the full width, then recedes down to a point again at the far end. Stitches are picked up along the edge, and short rows are worked to shape it into a crescent.
