RAMSON
Ramson, or wild garlic, is one of the true signs of spring in the south of Sweden. With the subtle, yet distinct scent of garlic when you walk through a Ramson field, it is impossible not to be ­fascinated. Not to be mistaken for Lily of the Valley, Ramsons have a white bud or bulb that later blossoms into a delicate white flower resembling that of chive.

The Ramson shawl or wrap is a rectangle shawl knit sideways, with bulbs and leaves formed using short rows. With a beautiful ­rainbow or gradient yarn, you will make sure to have a gorgeous piece to wrap around your neck in the winter or your shoulders in the summer. The entire shawl is knit in garter stitch, which makes it a ­project that anyone can execute.

As a bonus, it is also a very customizable pattern - the idea is that you can make your very own completely unique piece if you so wish. To achieve this, you can decide for yourself in which order to knit the charts, how tall you want the petals and in which ­order they should be knit. Each change creates a different effect in the leaves, with the stems bending back and forth with the help of the short rows.

Ramson is written for a locally produced Swedish yarn from the mini-mill Östergötlands ullspinneri. The yarns Visjö and ­Karamell are spun with wool from finewool sheep, a ­native ­heritage breed that has a very soft and crimpy wool ­resulting in a fabric that can be worn next to the skin.
