These mittens are knit according to the Norwegian Selbu tradition - with a modern twist on the cuff. The hand is knitted two-stranded in the round with a gusseted thumb, and they have a “fake entrelac” cuff, which is easier to knit than it looks.
The pattern shows knitting on dpns and the technique of placing the thumb stitches on hold for the thumb hole, but other techniques may be applied.

Materials:

  • Yarn: Rauma Finull (2 ply 100 % wool yarn with 175 metres (191 yds) per 50 grams) or the like. MC - ~40 grams CC - ~35 grams
  • Dpns size 3,0 mm (or size needed to achieve gauge)
  • Waste yarn or stitch holder for thumb stitches
  • Darning needle
